The Royal Mint has released their 2018 gold and silver Britannia coins. The 2018 editions of the gold and silver Britannia coins include a radial sunburst design added to increase anti-counterfeiting protection. The Silver Britannia
The one ounce Silver Britannia coin was first sold in 1997 in .958 fine silver. Starting in 2013, the Silver Britannia has been minted in .999 fine silver. The design of a Britania, the female personification of the Island of Great Britain, adorns the back of the coin. The obverse depicts a recent portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of England.
Although the Royal Mint non longer provides mintage figures for its gold and silver products, the Royal Mint reported selling well over 2 million Silver Britannia coins during fiscal year 2013 -14.
The Silver Britannia is legal tender and has a face value of two British Pounds. Silver Britannia coins have a silver purity of .999. The coins come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
Silver Britannia coins can also be ordered in unopened tamper evident sealed tubes of twenty-five coins.
Silver Britannia coins are also available in mint-sealed “monster boxes” of twenty rolls of twenty-five coins, or 500 coins per box.
The Royal Mint also offers the Silver Britannia Brilliant Uncirculated Bullion Coin in Velvet Gift Box. The coin comes in an air-tight container.

The Gold Britannia
The Gold Britannia has been minted annually since 1987. The front of the coin features Queen Elizabeth II of England and the back the iconic Britannia.
Gold Britannia coins are minted of 99.99% pure gold (.9999, 24kt) and the weight and purity of each coin is guaranteed by the Royal Mint. Gold Britannia coins are considered legal tender. The one ounce Gold Britannia has a face value of £100 (GBP).
All Gold Britannia coins are IRA eligible.
