U.S. Mint Celebrates 30th Anniversary of the American Silver Eagle Coin with Release of Specially Engraved Proof Version
The American Silver Eagle was first minted in 1986 and sold over 5 million that year. Since then, over 1/2 a billion more American Silver Eagle Coins have been sold. Through September 20,2016, 564,429,500 American Silver Eagles have been sold! To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the world’s best-selling silver coin, the U.S. Mint will be releasing a special proof edition.
For the first time, the American Silver Eagle will have an engraving on its edge. The engraving reads “30th Anniversary”. The 30th Anniversary edition of the American Silver Eagle is minted in proof form with a mirror like finish.
The 30th Anniversary American Silver Eagle coin is minted in West Point and bears the “W” mint mark on the reverse, adding to the coin’s collectability
