The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf
The one ounce Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coin was first sold in 1988, just two years after the introduction of the American Silver Eagle coin. Nearly 150 million Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins have been sold. The design of an iconic maple leaf adorns the back of the coin. The obverse depicts a recent portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of England.
Although the Canadian Mint does not provide a break-down of monthly sales of each product it mints, (the Canadian Mint also produces silver bars) the silver Maple Leaf coin constitutes the bulk of silver sales at the Canadian Mint.
The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf is legal tender and has a face value of five Canadian Dollars. In recent years the Canadian Mint has added anti-counterfeiting advanced visual security features including radial lines and laser marks to the Silver Maple Leaf. The silver purity is .9999. The coins come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins can also be ordered in unopened tamper evident sealed tubes of twenty-five coins.
Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins are also available in mint-sealed “monster boxes” of twenty rolls of twenty-five coins, or 500 coins per box.
All Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins are IRA eligible.
The Canadian Mint Gold Maple Leaf
